With Memorial Day this past Monday, I feel like summer is unofficially here! For as long as I can remember, summer has been my favorite season. When I was younger, I think it had a lot to do with no school. As I got older, summer always brought this sense of relaxation, fun, and togetherness. Everything always feels so easy and like beauty and good times happen naturally. These are things I like to incorporate into every wedding I do no matter the time of year.
For those of you planning a summer wedding, especially in the southern part of the country, the heat can be a big factor to overcome. But, I’ve got 5 fresh color palettes that are so gorgeous it might make the heat worth it!
Inspiration: West Coast Beach Bungalow
That West Coast vibe has a perfect casual yet refined element to it. There is tons of texture, subtle but eye-catching pops of color, and enough neutrals to make my heart skip a beat, all perfect elements for designing a summer wedding. I love this palette for its neutrals (yes, I consider blue to be a neutral…) and major pop of green! If you love this look, I would suggest keeping green to a minimum in all printed material and decor details and letting it stand out through palms in the corner or in your centerpieces.
European Alfresco Dining
Give me all the shades of white! As much as I love the color blue (which is a lot!), I love shades of white. The crisp fresh feeling of bright white and all it’s tinted shades is so pretty, especially when dining under the lights outside. For us, summer means lots of dining and cooking outside. There’s no pressure, limited mess, and we let the beauty of our surrounding speak for itself. I love the idea of this European alfresco dining environment for a summer wedding. The rustic flare from the stone surround and table make the environment feel less stuffy and like the beauty happened with ease.
Bright, Bold, Tropical
A completely different feel from the last color palette, these bright tropical hues are sure to put a smile on everyones face. You can have a lot of fun with this palette, especially if you love a theme! It’s bold and unexpected for a wedding. But hey, isn’t summer all about spontaneity? All you need to do is add a steel drum ensemble and rum punch at cocktail hour and you’ll have guests thinking you’ve transported them to a Hawaiian island for the night!
Grecian Blues and White
Everything about this reminds me of the Greek Isles from the crisp white accent to that stunning blue water. Forever and always, blue and white will be my favorite color combination. It’s classic yet can be styled in any number of ways to meet your specific taste.
Much like the bright, bold and tropical palette, these sunset hues are totally unexpected yet surprisingly gorgeous. How divine would it be to get married on a cliff overlooking the ocean with the sun going down behind you and these colors filling the sky? Hello dream world! Even if you can’t do that, you can create the feeling by incorporating these colors into your decor. To send it over the top, you could even do a beachside picnic reception that will have all your guests swooning.
