As a planner, I feel like there are a lot of misconceptions about weddings – primarily that people think things have to be done a certain way when in fact they don’t. One of these common misconceptions is that spring weddings have to have light colors and fall weddings, darker one. I’m going to shatter that misconception right now. You’re wedding colors can be whatever you want them to be regardless of the season you’re getting married.
Kim and Mike’s wedding is the perfect example. The couple beautiful mixed light dusty blues, deep burgundy and blush tones to set the stage for their vineyard wedding. The palette is stunning together and works well no matter the season. They carried these hues through every detail of their big day, including the macaroon favors that adorned each guests’ seat.
The couple’s photographer, Nova, gave a perfect account of this special day, highlighting that nothing can ruin your wedding day if you’re marrying the one you love. Read her full account of the day and check out the stunning images below.
From the Photographer
Sophisticated but fun, Kim and Mike’s Mastronardi wedding day began with Mike and his men getting dressed in the cutest cottage! Smiles were in abundance as Mike’s excitement became contagious, and he opened a special present from his bride-to-be. The boys were looking sharp in their suits and grey ties, and we snapped some adorable shots of this good-looking group of men, which included both the bride and groom’s fathers as well as the cutest, smallest ring bearers!
Meanwhile, the girls got glamourous in a nearby lakeside cottage, and drinks and laughter made the morning even more special. Kim slipped into an absolutely stunning lace gown with a V-neck, and her maids simply dazzled in grey dresses. I got some beautiful bridal shots of Kim, who is simply so photogenic with her adorable glasses and lovely blonde locks! Her bouquet with its pop of burgundy added just the right amount of color!
The vows were said under a cloudy sky that somehow still managed to look radiant on this special day, and nobody could resist smiling when Kim read a passage from Winnie the Pooh to her beloved husband! After the ceremony, we had a great time photographing the wedding party throughout the grounds as well as in front of the winery, which made a beautiful backdrop. It’s clear these friends and family members were having a great time, and even a few sprinkles couldn’t put a damper on this day!
The reception was perfect, bathed in light from the glass doors and creating a warm, inviting atmosphere with airy, bright decorations and plenty of flowers. The couple offered a table of treats for guests, which included donuts and other sugary snacks to indulge in!
Once we had dinner and enjoyed the reception a bit, I snuck Kim and Mike back out for a few more shots to wrap up the day. As we headed outside we noticed a beautiful rainbow had taken the place of the storm clouds, and it seemed a special sign that Kim’s late grandfather was indeed with his granddaughter on this truly magical day. As the sun broke through the clouds, Kim and Mike couldn’t help but smile as their lives as a married couple began!
