Heritage Influenced Utah State Capitol Wedding

We’ve been talking a lot recently about the importance of letting you and your story influence your wedding day. Taking pieces of your past and infusing them into the future you’re starting together creates the most beautiful and special weddings. Today’s real wedding did just that.

Tessa, who is of Italian decent, and Taani, Polynesian, let their respective heritages take center stage representing their two families coming together to create a new one. The couple couldn’t have asked for a more gorgeous day for their wedding on the outside patio of the Utah state capitol building. Pineapples, a symbol of good luck to Italians, were used throughout their decor but really took center stage during the ceremony.

Mini pineapples adorned the aisle tied to the sides of each chair. My favorite place they used them tough was as the ceremony backdrop. The rustic wood arbor was beautifully decorated with flowing greenery and hanging mini pineapples at various heights. It was a subtle but impactful way to incorporate some Italian good luck into Tessa and Taani’s big day.

Taani’s Tongan heritage was equally as celebrate throughout the wedding and reception. The groom’s family performed traditional Polynesian dances and adorned the happy couple with handmade, fresh leis which they wore throughout the reception.

This wedding is a perfect example of how honoring your heritage and family traditions can create a beautiful, meaningful day that is truly unique to you.
