Southern Outdoor Elopement

This beautiful wedding just goes to prove that sometimes things don’t always work out as planned. That doesn’t mean your wedding day isn’t going to be absolutely perfect. It just means you may have to adjust your expectations to make it that way.

Jesse and Leah had planned to elope to Charleston with just their parents, Jesse’s brothers and their pastor. They had been planning it for months when right after Christmas, a huge snowstorm hit the south. Here in the deep south, we rarely see snow and it’s never enough to shut down travel, except for this year.

Jesse and Leah’s parents were both flying in from the West Coast and the Charleston airport was closed due to the weather. After trying to push it back a day, they ultimately had plan a whole new wedding on two days notice. Talk about stressful!

Their photographer Jenna, of Tickled Peach Photography, stepped in and helped them plan this gorgeous elopement in just less than 48 hours. Lakes Chapel and Clubhouse, one of the most popular venues in town just happened to have the weekend open (their only open weekend for the year) and after her dress was damaged in alterations, Leah was able to find a dress off the rack that fit perfectly on the first try!

Within 48 hours Jenna and Leah were able to find hair and make-up artists, flowers, a musician to play the ceremony, new venue, new dress and adjusted travel plans. It also so happened to work out that by pushing the date a couple of days due to the storm, their wedding day fell on the one year anniversary of when Jesse and Leah had their first date. It was perfect.

Jesse and Leah wrote their own vows for the ceremony and they brought tears to everyone’s eyes. Jesse’s were especially beautiful as he said…

“So, this is the part of the ceremony for us to make promises. The truth is I cant promise you a lot. I cant promise that I will always make you feel loved. I cant promise that I will never hurt you or cause you heart ache. I cant promise that I will always put you above myself. I know that I could never hold those promises because I am far from perfect, nor do I deserve you. What I can promise is that I will never stop trying. I will never stop fighting, for you; fighting to come back to you, fighting to be the man you deserve…one that will love you unconditionally, one that will keep you safe…”

Jess and Leah’s wedding was nothing as they had planned. In fact, it was the farthest thing from it. But, it all worked out better than they could have imagined. This just goes to prove that not everything will go according to your plan while planning or on your wedding day. But, that doesn’t mean that your wedding isn’t going to be even better than you ever imagined.
